Numerical Investigations of Progressive Collapse Behaviour of Multi-Storey Reinforced Concrete Frames

This paper presents numerical simulations of multi-storey reinforced concrete frames under progressive collapse scenarios. Reinforced with different storeys are modelled using DIANA. The load resistance and failure mode obtained from the simulation. Variations in axial force bending moment at beam end also determined analysed to shed light on transfer mechanism. Numerical results show that single-storey frame can develop compressive arch action initial loading stage subsequent catenary large deformations. However, frames, only first-storey develops action, whereas beams other rather limited compression force. Based results, a design method is proposed for resist collapse. Comparisons between methods suggest evaluate good accuracy.
